The One Holiday Outfit You’ll Need This Season

For a fun, festive and unique Holiday party outfit, look no further than a vintage store. Sequins and beading reigned supreme in 80’s so it’s no surprise that vintage and thrift stores are STOCKED with incredible tops and dresses that are Holiday season ready.  I found this top at L Train Vintage in Brooklyn (within two very long racks of sparkly tops no less).  I was drawn to the beautiful beaded floral pattern and of course, the red color 😜.  It wasn’t until I tried it on that I noticed the slight triangle bottom that gives a nice slimming effect.  It’s details like those that I don’t find in “fast fashion”, but who needs “fast fashion” when this top was only $10!

For my party look, I paired my sparkly top with smart, tailored trousers.  I like the idea of toning down the extravagance of the top with a simple, classic bottom. Since the beads have a blue iridescence to them, I wore blue heels, blue floral earrings and topped it all off with a blue coat.  Since my pants are understated, I wore statement earrings because you can get away with bolder accessories at a party.

To avoid looking to “pristine”, however, I went with a grungier makeup look and hair-do look.  With this look, it’s almost as if you partied throughout the night, “threw on” a top and headed to the next party.  The “I’ve already been having a great time” hair and makeup contrasts the fanciness of the top and contrast always adds interest to an outfit.  Now that I have a Holiday outfit, I just need to find a Holiday party to attend!
