My Best Kept Thrift Store Secret

I’m very excited to share one of my best kept secrets for finding the perfect pant for petite girls. Shop the boy’s section! Case in point the pants I’m wearing here.  These are Van Heusan boy’s pants in a size 16. And they fit PERFECTLY. No tailoring required. Who knew a pubescent teen boy had the same curves as a 30-year old woman 🤣?   Honestly this secret isn’t only true for thrift stores – you can also shop the boy’s section in any current retailer.  However, when thrifting, one can find really nice quality pants for very cheap (talking $3 here).  When I found these pants I thought it would be a one time deal. But when I went back, I not only found another great pair of tailored trousers (an ankle length taper leg this time) but also a great pair of jeans!  So now I’ve ticked off another unexpected section of the thrift store to find some amazing pieces!

These days I’ve been wearing fancy trousers with a t-shirt.  My work attire does not have to be “work appropriate” so I love toning down fancy items with casual pieces.  Of course, the easiest way to do that is with a t-shirt! I recently got this mustard Rolling Stones one from American Eagle (still available) and loved how it looked with this denim jacket.

I also love a good crop jacket for my petite size especially because it showcases my waist and makes my legs look longer than they actually are! I bought this one new. but I’ve also been on the hunt for a denim jacket at the thrift store that I can crop.  That’s a great solution to get the perfect length for your torso height.

I topped it off with a matching mustard hat because this girl loves to match her hat to her shirt 😜.

This Coach bag was a birthday present and I am obsessed with it!  It’s such a classic design that I will have for ages.  The bag itself it also very lightweight which is great when I carry everything and the kitchen sink with me.  The pebbled leather doesn’t show scratches 👌
