My Favorite Fall 2018 Trends

ANIMAL PRINTS

Stop me if you heard this one before – “Animal prints will be HUGE for Fall”. If you’re as much of an avid follower of bloggers as I am then you would seen many leopard skirts on your instagram feed recently. Leopard is definitely the animal print chosen by most designers and influencers as it’s seen on everything from tops, skirts, boots, bags, boats, belts…everything. And personally, I am all for it. I have always believed a leopard print is the best neutral you can have. But the leopard isn’t the only animal getting the spotlight. Fall 2018 is really stepping up the animal print game with the addition of zebra and snakeskin. Even better is mixing them all together! But if that’s too bold of a look, don’t fret, adding just a single animal print to your look will put you right in line with the trendiest of people. You don’t even need to invest in a big piece, something as simple as an animal print belt will do the trick.

PLAID

We started seeing the menswear trend really gain momentum last Fall and it certainly isn’t slowing down this year. Especially when it comes to Plaid. Like this amazing Versace look, a fresh take on cool weather plaid this season incorporates hot weather bright colors. Still, I’m also loving plaids in rich green, brown, burgundy tones. And if you’re feeling bold, try mixing it with leopard too! Or head toe, Clueless style.

Corduroy

The 70’s are here to stay and this time they brought Corduroy. I don’t think you can get more 70’s than a brown tailored corduroy suit (well maybe hippie skirts). This season the fabric is taking on all of types of pant shapes from skinny, to wide leg, to cropped and the classic flare. I’ll definitely be trading in my jeans for cord pants because it’s a simple swap. Any of the the pants linked below look equally as great with a t-shirt as they do with a silk blouse. Or a chunky knit sweater. But let’s not forget the corduroy skirt I’ll also be rocking this Fall. If pants or skirts are not your vibe, you can also choose from a blazer, coat or even overalls. The possibilities are endless.

Western Boots

If you’re going to get only one pair of new shoes this season, make it the cowboy boot. You can thank Westworld for making the Western trend explode all over the F/W18 runways. But putting fringe and patchwork aside, the coolest piece to come out of it is cowboy inspired boots. I remember living in my cowboy boots back in High School and I’m kicking myself now for not keeping those shoes (haven’t I learned already trends are cyclical?). So I’m currently on the hunt for a vintage or thrifted pair but the top retailers have also come out with some screech-worthy styles as well. What I love about the cowboy boot is that it adds an instant coolness factor to any outfit. Tee + Jeans + Cowboy boot = bad ass chick. Floral Mini Dress + Cowboy boot = bad ass flower child. Ok so they making anything bad ass too. Especially in redor snakeskin. In the words of Rachel Zoe, “I die”.
