When talking about vintage, one typically doesn’t hear the word “staple” thrown around in conversation. Timeless, perhaps. After years of shopping around at vintage stores, I’ve come to denote certain pieces as “vintage staple”. One of them is no doubt the Wool Plaid Skirt.
Throughout the 60s, 70s, & 80s Pendleton & Woolrich churned out these skirts like McDonald’s does burgers. OK maybe that’s an exaggeration, but practically every girl owned a wool plaid skirt. And for good reason! They are beautifully made, flatter every figure, and the ways it can be styled are endless!
One of my favorite ways to wear a plaid skirt is to mix it up with patterns like stripes or polka dots! Pairing plaid with polka dots makes the look more playful rather than stuffy. The beret and red lip echoes the feminine nature of the blouse. Finally, the black booties and bag balance out the femme with some edge.
