The Cardigan is Back

What do Bella Hadid, Monica Geller and Lizzy Hadfield have in common? They all can rock a cardigan. Another 90’s classic has made its resurgence and the fashion world had been embracing it with open arms.  I surprisingly have a lot of cardigans in my wardrobe even though I barely wore them.  I would always buy one because it was “practical” – useful garments to combat the office AC.  But may have been because of their “practicality” I didn’t really enjoy styling them and instead would go for a jacket or blazer for added warmth.

Yet when the 90’s fashion started to make its comeback and everything Monica & Rachel wore was trendy again, I began to see cardigans being worn as tops.  And I really liked it.  There’s something (oh boy, I’m using that word again) sexy about a half buttoned-up cardigan with only a bra underneath.  Wearing it this way really takes it away from its traditional twin-set roots.

I like it worn for the office with skirts (like this look here) or more casually with jeans and sneakers.  Just make sure when you’re looking for a cardigan that can be worn as top that it’s a crew neck shape that buttons all the way to the top; or an ever so slight v-neck.  I unfortunately have a few cardigans that I wanted to wear but are way to low cut for my liking.  And for me at least, wearing it with a cami looses it’s sex appeal.  Also, styles with a slimmer cut will make it even easier to tuck into any bottom of your choice. ✌
