The Quilted Coat

In the past, I would admired this vintage quilted coat for a loooong time but eventually place it back on the rack. I would thought “This is so beautiful but I’m not sure if I can pull it off” and left it for someone else to enjoy. I’m sure everyone has had that thought, whether you were shopping vintage or contemporary. That was until Beth from Bjones Style proclaimed it to be one of the “IT” pieces for Spring. She made quilted coats look so damn cool, it broke through my “style wall” (like a writer’s block but for styling😊 ).

I wasn’t necessarily “on the hunt” for a quilted coat but when I spotted this beauty at a flea market this past weekend I didn’t think twice about whether it was coming home with me. I knew it was coming home with me! I became obsessed with the color alone, but when I learned it was a 1960’s “rich lady” house coat, I was smitten.

I definitely plan on wearing this coat over a casual white tee and high waisted jeans many times this Spring. But when I brought back this adorable green gingham dress to sell in the shop, I knew I had to wear them together – if only to shoot! This just shows how great these coat look over a easy sundress too. I also love to play with color blocking and loved how the orange shoes & purse popped against the green!
