The Shoe You’ll Wear with Every Outfit: The Loafer

If you look up “How to create a capsule wardrobe?”, 9/10 people would recommend a loafer for one of 3 shoes you need. While I don’t follow “capsule wardrobes”, I do believe in having “wardrobe staples”. That is, items in your closet that are timeless, can be worn in multiple seasons, and looks great with everything. One of those items in my closet is no doubt The Loafer! Since I’m not much of a sneaker wearer, this is my go-to comfortable, slip on shoe of choice. I love how it adds polish and sophistication to any outfit. My favorite look is to pair them with straight jeans and a classic button down – think Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly from the 60s. Fun Fact: The “Penny Loafer” was created by G.H. Bass and Co in the 50s with a flap at the top of the shoe that was perfectly sized to fit a penny. The exact cost of a phone call during that time.
