The Tailored Pant

I love a good pair of jeans, but there are times when wearing jeans can get a bit boring. In the summertime, I mix it up with skirts and dresses. But in the winter I want to be completely covered so denim is typically my go-to. Well no more! Going along with the blazer craze, trousers have begun to get their moment on the streets too!

These days one can certainly don a killer matching power suit because the “power executive” look is on trend right now. But if you’re not in a traditional corporate atmosphere, like me, or prefer a more casual vibe to your look, then something like this trouser and t-shirt combo is a great way to go. Swapping out the jeans from the typical “t-shirt and jeans” look for a pair of tailored trousers is super simple but an impactful change. This pair of pants I got at the thrift store (because where else these days?) but there are loads of really great trousers in stores now too.

I call this look “Parisian’s Day Off”. I like the idea of mixing casual with tailored; feminine with masculine. The grey pants give a tailored and masculine aesthetic but then I juxtaposed it with a raw cut tee and pink accessories to add the casual, feminine vibe. Since I wore a pink neck tie on top, I clashed it with a masculine loafer on the bottom. When mixing two opposing attributes, I find it best to balance them throughout the outfit. So if I wanted to wear a heel with the outfit instead, then I may switch out the necktie for a vest or a fedora – both of those pieces were adapted from a man’s wardrobe. The black leather jacket also helps to balance out the black shoe. Leather jackets just make everything look cool.

I wore my hair slicked back to show off the necktie and put on black eyeliner for that feminine appeal. This outfit combination is so easy as it’s not limited to these exact items or color combinations. There are so many possibilities that I’ll definitely be switching out my jeans for trousers throughout the season!

Mini Lipstick Review: This is my go-to everyday nude lipstick. The formula is so creamy, not at all drying and lasts really well. It doesn’t withstand eating but is really easy to apply and re-apply. This color leans towards the rosey-nude so it gives me a very natural look.
