Is it really true that you can have too much of a good thing? When it comes to velvet, I think not. Even though the luxe fabric hit it’s peak last year (I mean, everything was velvet), it’s still one of my favorite fabrics for Fall/Winter. And it’s definitely a favorite to thrift for. It takes some patience when you’re thrifting for a specific item but it’s so exhilarating once you find it! This shirt took me a couple of months and A LOT of store visits to find. I’m obsessed with it, and am so happy I didn’t succumb to the pressure of buying a new one! The subtle leopard print lends a special twist to the classic 70’s style.
I found this velvet blazer just this past weekend and I knew I had to wear them together! To give velvet a new look for this year why not wear two (or more!) velvet pieces together? This look has a really cool “rock and roll” vibe to it, especially when paired with ripped up denim. Side note: these grey jeans are my 5th pair of AE Mom Jeans! (Obsessed much?)
To add a feminine touch, I accessorized with these polka dot tights, black pointy shoes and navy evening bag. Don’t be afraid to mix black and navy! When you do choose to mix them, make sure to repeat the navy in a couple of places throughout the outfit; like I do with this navy & black fedora. Repeating navy throughout provides purpose to the look rather than it looking accidental.
